Fishtown Neighbors Association's zoning committee will hold an in-person meeting on Tuesday, June 9, to review a proposed loading zone tied to the new building planned for 1716 Frankford Avenue.
The meeting is scheduled for 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Shissler Recreation Center, 1800 Blair Street. FNA says attendees should register through the Zoning Committee page or directly at bit.ly/FNAZoning0609.
The applicant is constructing a new building at 1716 Frankford Avenue with a proposed grocery store tenant. The public materials reviewed for the meeting do not name the grocer. One community question is whether the unnamed tenant could be Riverwards Produce or another local operator, and whether the applicant can identify the tenant or say when it will be announced. The request is for a loading zone along the west side of Frankford Avenue between Columbia Avenue and Palmer Street.
The applicant is expected to present information about the project, field questions, and respond to community concerns. A vote will be taken because the loading zone requires Streets Department and PPA review, plus a City Council ordinance bill that must be approved and enacted before the loading zone can be installed.
