Fares

SEPTA Bus and Metro trips are currently $2.90 with a contactless card, SEPTA Key Travel Wallet, or mobile wallet, and include up to two free transfers within 120 minutes when you keep using the same card.

Use it like OMNY on the New York MTA: tap a credit card, debit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Samsung Pay at the El turnstile or bus reader. If you are tapping a physical card, pull it out of your wallet first so the reader charges the right one.

SEPTA fare options

Arriving From Out Of Town

Chinatown bus stops are around the 10th and 11th Street area near Arch and Race, with Tom's Dim Sum close by. The Spring Garden intercity bus zone is closer to Fishtown: from there, you can walk toward the neighborhood by the Delaware River Trail/greenway or take the El from Spring Garden.

For New York, D.C., Baltimore, and other Northeast Corridor trips, late-night Amtrak Night Owl fares can be a low-cost option when your timing is flexible.

Stadiums And Big Events

From Fishtown, take the El toward 69th St, transfer at 15th/City Hall to the Broad Street Line, then ride south to NRG for the stadiums. Getting there is usually the easy part. Leaving after Phillies, Eagles, Sixers, concerts, or stacked event nights can add 20-30 minutes just from subway platform and crowding waits, so budget another 30 minutes for the trip home.

Rideshare pickup from the stadium area is often messy because lots, Broad Street, and I-95 traffic all compress at once. The subway is still usually the better bet if you are willing to wait out the crowd.

Waterfront Greenway

A low-stress walk south from Fishtown.

The useful Fishtown waterfront route starts around Penn Treaty Park and Rivers Casino, then follows the Delaware River Trail south along Columbus Boulevard. For most trips, think of it as a protected Spring Garden-to-Washington Avenue corridor, with official Delaware River Waterfront guidance listing the active trail as 3.3 miles from Pier 70 in South Philadelphia to Penn Treaty Park in Fishtown.

Best Walking Corridors

Girard Avenue is the main east-west walking spine for venues, transit, and quick errands.
Frankford Avenue is the primary north-south corridor for restaurants, bars, coffee, shopping, and shows.
Martha Street in East Kensington is a good pocket when you want a tighter cluster away from the busiest blocks.
