A sidewalk delivery robot was spotted in Fishtown around lunchtime Friday, rolling along East Montgomery Avenue between Shissler Playground and Fishtown Pharmacy.
These small delivery robots were originally described as a Center City thing, but they appear to be popping up farther north now. One short clip does not prove a full service expansion, but it is a clear sign that the robots are no longer only a downtown curiosity.
For Fishtown, the practical question is less futuristic than it sounds: how well do these machines fit on neighborhood sidewalks that already have stoops, trash cans, outdoor dining, parked cars, construction signs, and pedestrians moving in both directions?
